Name this Arcade game - 80's sci-fi series

Post by Anapan »

I just watched a 1984 BBC sci-fi mini-series filmed in New Zeland called "Children of the Dog Star".
The weather vane used to creep me out when it was broadcast on the Knowledge Network when I was 7-9 years old so it was necessary to watch it. Surprisingly, it was good, despite the low budget.
You can start watching it here and some footage of the game is here.

There's an arcade cabinet that is prominent in the show to prove that the protagonist is a geek, proficient at science and an amatuer astronomer - it has marquee art that says "Video Game" - not very helpful.
It appears to be an spinoff of Dig Dug, Mr. Do! and if you're into DOS - Digger; You can tunnel through the soil in the playfield and drop boulders on enemies. There seems to be a goal at the bottom of the screen and your character is spawned from a flying saucer. It's obviously not a C=64 bluescreen overlay because it's in 'tate mode. For the life of me I can't find/figure out what it is.

Here's some screen caps - the main character wears yellow&red, the enemies wear purple:

Google isn't helping at all, so I decided to turn to the Racketboy community for help! I gotta know - What is it?

Thankyou! I was looking for a Rockford look alike, going nuts on this. Oh this is a hard game in Mame, its no Mr Do.
