KillerJuan77 wrote:Well, lets post something about the games we are playing right now (Comments about the difficulty, chapters, story, etc.).
Let me start:
So far I'm liking Resonance Of Fate a lot but man it's hard, you know a game is difficult when you retry the same battle over 7 times . The combat system is pretty awesome too and even at chapter 2 you can customize your character entirely (You can customize your weapons, clothing, accessories, hair color, etc.). The steampunk environments are pretty cool too.
right now i'm playing fallout:new vegas and i have to say its incredible. its not that hard, and im playing on the hardest difficulty,it has 3 acts (the 3rd being the best one in my opinion) the story is really something else, especially with the introduction of the lonesome road dlc,i dont wanna give out too many spoilers though, but the basic story is that, you were shot in the head outside of new vegas, the nuked version of las vegas, but you survived and you have to track down the man who shot you across the mojave wasteland, there are two main factions, the new california republic and caesar's legion, the legion being a group of slavers and piligars, and the NCR being a democracy, the closest thing to a functioning government in the wasteland, there are two more factions you could side with but that might spoil some big parts of the story, its an amazing game and i highly recommend it.
I technically beat this but I'm not sure if it counts as a "legit" playthrough. If you're not familiar with Magic Sword, it is a side-scrolling arcade game where you climb fifty levels of a tower to defeat an evil wizard at the top. Along the way you pick up keys to unlock doors scattered across the levels. These doors contain partners you can take to fight along side you (with varying abilities and power levels). I have gotten to about level 37 or 38 several times but I just don't have the levels memorized enough to avoid a lot of the traps so I burn through continues. The game gives you the option to choose your starting point with the maximum level being floor 33 of 50. I chose floor 33 and actually beat the final boss. I thought maybe since I chose a different starting point I'd be penalized and not see the ending but I don't think it matters where you start. I like the game but the traps get pretty nefarious and more frequent as you go along. Towards the end I found myself carefully crawling through the levels trying not to get hit as health restoring items are somewhat scarce.
Ah, Magic Sword! I haven't thought about that one in a long while. I can't think of any suggestions to aid with the traps, I'm afraid, though I do recommend finding a partner you like early and then not bothering with the partners again unless you have to.
On consoles (in order of release date, it's a mess:)
Valis I Fami Valis II Turbo Valis III Turbo Valis III Gen Valis IV PCE Valis I Gen Valis I PCE Syd of Valis Gen Valis IV SNES
Parts I and II also have bunches of obscure computer variants, there's a PCE game that's literally just a compilation of all the cutscenes.... and there are some dreadful 21st century porn releases.

Thanks for the list, the pc compilation is interesting and I would like to try and get a copy one way or another.
Have you heard of Valis X? Apparently it is a visual novel based on the world of Valis, it is in Japanese so its not something we could play but I thought it was an odd entry to the series.
Valis X is the dreadful porn I mentioned. Avoid at all costs.
That PC compilation is super-rare. It was released by Project EGG, who specializes in PC compilations, but only releases them in one limited run. They've released a Bothtec (Quest) compilation and a Dragon Slayer compilation as well (among others). I actually managed to track down the latter, though it took some time.
I just finished Disney's G-Force, and that game is fantastic. It's dirt cheap, so you have little to lose if you decide to add it to your 360 or ps3 library. You play as a guinea pig with a jet pack, laser whip, and an assortment of ranged weapons in a 3rd person shooter platformer puzzler. If that doesn't sell you, there are levels where you play in a hi-tech gerbil ball equipped with blasters. If that doesn't sell you, it is part splinter cell, part guinea pig with a jet pack fighting possessed household appliances. It's a lot of fun. Sam Rockwell voices the lead.
My only gripe would be that this would make a better 4-6 hour game than a 6-8 hour game. Sometimes the music and level design feel a bit redundant, as they are.
I'm also replaying MGSV, not because I beat it, I needed to restart to remember how to play.
Beat Turtles in Time after I purchased it a few weeks ago. Man. That game isn't the challenge I remember. Team Hyperstone Heist.
Will continue to play Transformers War For Cybertron. It's been okay, but okaying as Soundwave is a treat.
@bonesnap: I will definitely avoid valis x, I may try and pirate the pc version since it seems like something worth exploring and is probably impossible to find
@notluke: I own g-force on the wii, haven't played it yet but it sounds like something I would enjoy, gen 7 disney games can be pretty fun and noone ever talks about them, I played chicken little ace in action a while back and it was a lot better than I thought it would be.
Also, when was the last time you played hyperstone heist? That game is just as easy, if not easier than turtles in time, if for no other reason than it is shorter and they both have the same ludicrously easy final boss. Both games are fantastic but definitely are not known for their challenge.
