Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011

Post by Snickerd00dle »

Hey all! I know it has been a while but I am back in the saddle. Summer proves to be the easiest time for me to game so I am introducing my summer gaming challenge again this year- mostly for my own motivation to complete some games I need to, but for others to join in and have fun as well. Basically I choose ten games that I either should have completed by now or classics that I can not believe I haven't completed. Last year I beat about 3 or 4 of the ten and I was a little disappointed by the games that I chose, so this year instead of doing all old games, I will be throwing in a few modern titles that I have yet to beat into the mix. I will have updates and reviews of all the games I complete.
This years ten games are (some repeats)

Donkey Kong Country
Tomba
Strider 2
Fallout New Vegas
Yoshi's Story
Super Mario RPG
Fable III
Super Metroid
Secret of Mana
Banjo Kazooie

I will be starting with Banjo or Fallout because I have some progress in the games already- hope some of you join in- or make your own lists :)

Pretty interesting idea. That's a lot of good games there Snickerd00dle, good luck. And a nice reminder that after 50 some hours of New Vegas... I really should pick it up again and finish it for the sake of beating it, lol.

This was one of my favorite threads from last year, and I was eagerly anticipating this year's edition. I already have a list ready.

-Chrono Trigger (SNES) - DONE!
-Super Metroid (SNES)
-No One Lives Forever (PC) - PLAYING
-Diablo (PC)
-Guardian Heroes (SATURN) - DONE!
-Adventure (2600) - DONE!
-A Boy and his Blob (NES)
-MUSHA (GENESIS) - DONE!
-Zillion (SMS) - Gave up! Really boring, frustrating, and poor controls.
-Gunhed (PCE) - DONE!

Thanks for doing this again Snickerd00dle. Should be great fun :)

Here we go!

- Super Mario Land (GB)
- Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (GB)
- Burning Rangers (SAT)
- Super Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA)
- Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
- Metroid Prime 2 (GCN)
- Sin and Punishment: Star Successor (Wii)
- Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)
- Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA)

EDIT: This should be the final list. I had to make a couple of changes and shuffle my back up games into place for two that I just know I wouldn't want to finish.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I picked up MUSHA from someone on the shmups forum in January, iirc.

I've been wanting to do a list like this! Here's my ten for the summer:
Castlevania Bloodlines (Gen)
Final Fantasy IX (Ps1)
God of War (Ps2)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
Resident Evil Directors Cut (Ps1)
Resistance Retribution (Psp)
Shadow of the Colossus (Ps2)
Soul Caliber 2 (Xbox)
Splinter Cell (Xbox)
Star Fox Assault (Gamecube)

Splinter Cell or Resistance is first since I'm farthest in those (barely though)

It's kind of sad and scary that probably 75% of my backlog of games I haven't touched or beaten are probably JRPG's. haha... uh, maybe I can beat one or two over the summer?
