vote for some of the greatest games (poll #50, 9/19/11)

Post by geozeldadude »

so just in case anyone's wondering, the series of polls i started here http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=29207 isn't quite dead yet. i had to make a new thread b/c there's apparently a bug with the forum's system in trying to modify a poll that has already run, and one of the mods is looking into it but it looks like it's going to take more time to figure out. hopefully it'll get straightened out soon, but in the meantime i thought i'd try to keep things rolling along.

just a reminder, this is an attempt to get a better sense of "some" of the greatest games of all time, as opposed to the usual lists that focus on all the same obvious ones. vote for up to 3 each week, and the top 5 continue to the next poll. a game that lasts for 3 weeks or so gets inducted into the pantheon.

happy voting.

well, it looks like hosting the polls on the board just isn't going to work out, so much as i hate to do so i'm going to have to create the polls elsewhere and link them here.

the results of poll #3 are that we have our first inductee into the "hall of fame", which was advance wars (GBA) which survived for 3 weeks. bionic commando is close to making it to its 3rd week, but will it? we'll just have to see, b/c there are some interesting choices this week.

here are the entries for poll #4. vote here: http://polldaddy.com/poll/4871171/
1 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) (weeks: 1)
2 Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) (weeks: 1)
3 Bionic Commando (NES) (weeks: 2)
4 Bayonetta (PS3, 360)
5 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, PS3, 360, Wii)
6 Contra (NES)
7 Crimson Skies (PC)
8 Deus Ex (PC, PS2)
9 Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (PS2, PC)
10 Discs of Tron (arcade)

PC games continue to get ignored, and retro games continue to get all the attention. i'm surprised call of duty 4 got ignored though. bionic commando survived for 3 weeks and gets inducted into the hall of fame, and i retired SOTN after only two weeks since it topped the list twice in a row. conker's bad fur day has one more week to make it to immortality, but i've ramped up the competition a bit. also curious to see how other castlevania games do, so i'm throwing in aria of sorrow. happy voting.

Make that two for Contra!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Suggestions:

1) Place poll on first line of post.
2) Add a "none of the above" or "other" option.

done and done. i've been mixing things up more, so feel free to send me suggestions of what games you want to see on the poll next, especially if they're more recent and not completely obvious.
