Guitar Hero is dead

Ah Activision, how many more franchises will you drive to the ground when you could have reaped benefits for decades?

And they just opened a new studio to make more Call of Duty, what could go wrong?

While I don't particulary like Guitar Hero it's still kind of pathethic.

About time, should have happened a couple years earlier. PS2 new games limited shelf space was tied up to those fake guitars and drums.

Part of the problem was that Rock Band was doing it so much better than they were. It's not really a multiplayer game. By the time they tried to match Rock Band, it was too late. The change radically changed the brand and people basically saw it as Activision essentially admitting that Rock Band was the superior game.

Oh man, finally. I remember when Guitar Hero first came out. Every party I went to some jerk would pull out the stupid plastic guitar and play the same damn song over and over again.

So annoying. At least with that Dancing Revolution game, everyone could get drunk and appreciate the spectacle.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I enjoy Guitar Hero, but I have to admit that I rolled my eyes when I started noticing how frequently new games in the series were being released. It didn't help that Rock Band was doing its part to over stock store shelves with huge peripherals. Sad that they managed to botch another franchise.

Yeah, Activision ran that one to the ground. I have not played a Guitar Hero game since the Third one, even I know its all downhill from here. Pretty much Rock Band won this battle with there little more smarter marketing, they don't spam the crap out of the shelves, they rely so much on DLCs over new games. Yeah sure RB3 are not making new records, as the matter of fact that Viacom are selling Harmonix, so pretty much this trend is dead as a doornail. If only Activision would stop making Tony Hawk games.

On the bright side, at least the accessories will be allot cheap now.

I really didn't play much guitar hero, so I don't really care. I feel it was a really brief fad that finally crashed.
