Games NOT beaten: 2011
I know a lot of people here start certain games and never finish them and I wanted to make a topic for that, inspired by our Games Beaten:2011 topic. I'm interested in seeing what games players have chosen NOT to finish this year and why. Did you lose interest in the game? Did it tick you off? I want to know why some games never get finished. If something else simply grabbed your attention away from a title, mention that too. It's interesting to see WHY you chose to play that other game instead.
I think it would make an interesting retrospective come New Years Day 2012 to see all the games you guys did not finish and examine WHY they were left collecting dust on your shelves

Great idea. I considered listing the "games that beat me" in my last 2010 post, so maybe I'll post those here. I suspect this thread will see the most activity at the end of the year, as I don't want to give up on anything too soon.
EDIT: "listing" not "lusting"

Yeah, I figured since we often talk about the stuff we never finish and how it's a bad thing, this topic could make a positive out of it. Perhaps instead of forcing oneself though something that isn't enjoyable just to add it to the games beaten thread, we can add it heredsheinem wrote:Great idea. Hehe games not beaten? pretty much all of theeeeeem. I have focusing problems so I tend not to see games all the way through most of the time. I'm working on it though and trying to get better. I'm working on finishing Dragon Quest IV at the moment. I don't know why I stop, these games are soooo good.

Re: Games NOT beaten: 2011
So I'm gonna use this to list games I've played this year but not finished. I'm only including games I've never beaten before too. I'll come back and edit it every so often, and remove anything I did finish up. By even listing games that were in progress at some point I'll be sure to know if anything really did get left in the dust.
Anyhow, so far this list is small:
Probotector Game boy
This is still in progress. I can't quite beat the last boss yet. He just clears my 3 lives quicker than I can clear his one. The slower shooting on this game boy version is whats causing me trouble, I can;t turn around and quickly shoot enemies coming at me fast enough.

genesis
fantasia
the first two games of the year i've beaten have been diseny games. i thought i would keep the streak alive and play another, fantasia. FUCK THIS GAME. this is the easiest-hardest game of all time. if you would go to a youtube video of gameplay the game probably would look easy. but the controls are horrendous, which makes it very difficult. for example, i have tried jumping on enemies to kill them; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i guess you have to hit the right pixel for it to work. also, the controls are stiff as shit. for as bad as it is, i probably have spent 3 or 4 days with it and have only gotten to the 2nd level. it is only the 15th day of the year and i won't ever play this game again for the rest of my life.

Broken controls always piss me off. This is the reason I'm waiting for splatterhouse to drop to bargain prices because I know the jumping is terrible.final fight cd wrote:genesis

The Red Star
Got stuck in the last stage. Anyone got cheats?

I don't think it had any. I remember the last few stages being rough and the last boss very, very hard. Who are you using? Makita is much easier to use. If you beat the game, you unlock a fun third character who can reflect bullets back at her enemies. Fun to use in boss fights. I love The Red Star, but they went overboard just a tad in the last few stages, real bitch trying to get S ranks on them. I gave up on my quest for all S ranks because of them. Didn't have the skillsHaoie wrote:The Red Star

Punch Out on the Wii
It's not as well designed or fun to play as the original Punch Out on the NES and Super Punch Out on the SNES. Plus, after repeated attempts using the nunchuk controls I found that they just were too awkward for me to rely on. I switched over to just using the remote as a regular control pad
On a related note, I am officially sick and tired of playing dissapointing remakes. Sonic 4, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Punch Out. That's three in a row that failed to capture the magic of the originals
At this point, I feel like changing my stance on remakes. They suck! Leave the classics alone!
