There is a thread about "atmospheric" games. Although every game is atmospheric by nature, Flashback does a great job at placing you in another world. I'm still fascinated with the games animation and sound (and lack of sound as well), and it's one of those games I seem to at least once every year.

The original Megaman...what more can you say? Good music, sloppy game play, and insanely hard.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
I finished inFamous 2 last night. I liked it, but for several reasons it is not as good as the first. The story and atmosphere seemed like the typical videogame fare, whereas the first felt like a comic book. The game want overboard with the super-big-frustrating-to-kill enemies, to the point that I started skipping any optional missions that featured them. And the game seemed more glitchy overall. Still, a fun game, and for once t had an ending that didn't scream "Buy the sequel next year!"

And that's that, I finish this year up with NiGHTS. Seems appropriate. This was, frankly, a fucking weird year. Looking back at the beginning of my list, I can actually remember a lot about what was going on in my life at that time. I was living essentially a totally different life: I was in college, living with my girlfriend of nearly 3 years, no clue about what I would do for work.
Now a year later: Graduated, living in a totally different town, no longer with said girl (which is both good and sad at the same time), working a job that is looking like the beginning of a career.
I started this list with the idea that it would be neat to see how many games I could beat in a year but I tapered off quite a bit when I graduated college. Instead, the list has become the closest thing to a journal I have ever kept.

Ending the year with Avalanche. You may say you can't "beat" this game. So I'm saying I beat it because my score today came out above the world record.
SO THERE.
Thirty games, way more than last year. Hopefully I can get more next year. Chances are slim, but I will definitely try!
