I Need Something Cool, Weird, and Japanese.

Post by lisalover1 »

My stepdad is going on a business trip to Japan, and he says he can pick something video-game related up for me while he's there. Any suggestions? I kind of want to get a system, so maybe a Japanese-exclusive system? [I already have a Wonderswan Color, though.]

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan: The game where you control a cheerleader squad so as to help people handle mundane and not so mundane tasks through the powers of cheerleading! Osu!

It's an awesome game and it's accessible to anyone.

This reminds me Ihave a review written for this, I should get it on the net or something.

You clearly don't know him. He's probably the biggest proponent of this game.

You're not the first to think that. OTO is probably my most-played DS game; I play it every day, and own sealed copies of all 3 games in the series. I have gotten an A-rank on almost every song, and even S-ranked a few.

I second the Gameboy Light idea. Always wanted one of those.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Do you have a PC Engine? If not, get one! A Japanese Saturn is next best, if you don't have one already (I think you do?). Of course give a list of some games to pick up!

Do NOT ask him to get some silly obscure console, like the Loopy or Game Boy Light (seriously, they do NOT pop up everyday in retro game shops!) or something. He probably won't find it. Just give him a map with directions to Super Potato in Akihabara. He should find most anything PC Engine or Saturn related there that you'd want. Occasionally they might be out of what you want, so just be aware of that.

There was a time when I wasn't sure, just based on the name and your avatar. What's your name a reference to, anyway?

Anyway, if I were you, I'd go for a PC Engine as well.
