Best Micromachines games?

by Erik_Twice Tue Dec 07, 2010 9:39 am

I remember that I had a lot of good experiences with Micromiches games, playing the first one in my PC and the second one on a SNES emulator. In fact, I have V4 for PC on my shelf but I haven't played it yet.

What do you think of this series? Which one do you recommend me?

Micromachines v3 on Playstation 1. Four player mayhem with 2 joypads. Good times indeed.

Micro Machines 2 for mega drive / genesis.

Notice the 2 controller ports on the cart itself:

Each controller can be used by 2 persons so that makes 8 players possible ;)

Damn it! My MM2 cart does not have those!
Also: Damn it! I don't know 8 people (locally) willing to play 16-bit games!
Mostly harmless

No, no. I'd go for the classic gold cart on the NES. My buddies and I cranked out many a good hour on that version so it wins it for me, and it's the most retro of them! I also have the N64 one which is fun, but lacks the nostalgia factor for me.

I think I'm saying this a lot lately but " I was mainly a Snes player"

However my friend bought his Megadrive around once with this game I have to say it made me jealous because my version of Micro Machines 2 didn't have the 2 extra controller ports and it was fun as hell with 4 of us playing.
We were all crap at the game and it made it even more fun bashing each other out the way

I have great memories of the gold car NES game which I managed to pick up years later for a few bucks. I still think it's the best, or at least one of the best, unlicensed games for the NES. Micro Machines 64 is also a blast. Basically an improved version of V3 for PSX. Also supporting 8 players on four pads. Great series on the whole though. I remember playing the GBC port of the first two games and finally beating MM1 (though i think they scaled back the difficulty a bit).

I've only ever played the NES one.

How does the pad sharing feature work?

Just like a multitap except you don't need to buy one it came built into the game.
Just connect your pads and play
