I just think that it's a gag that didn't fit the rhytmn of that part of the movie. Gideon was already defeated and the ending is a heartwarming one, the gag doesn't work well there.
B) Knives should have attacked Ramona early on, and instead it should have been Ramona and scott, both getting swords at the end, and using the X cross attack to kill Gideon.
I kind of agree but not much as I think it's a practical issue. Knives requires a lot of time because it's kind of a false start for the plot itself.
If Knives had attacked Ramona early on you would need a scene where she is alone, adding a lot to the running time. Not feasible.
The main problem plot-wise with the movie is that you need to tackle three girls to define Scott (Ramona, Knives and Kim) while leaving enough time to fight 7 ex-boyfriends. Given how little time they could give Ramona, it's no wonder they decided to make her redeem herself by helping Scott at the end.
