– MiTN of Greater Flint and University of Michigan – Flint ACM & Video Gamers Club will be hosting the largest video gaming and technical training event of the year. The FlintLAN IV will commence on Saturday December 4th at 12:00PM at the Riverfront Conference Center. Over 24 hours of gaming, tournaments, and prizes. This full featured event will host over 10 tournaments with prizes such as a DJ Hero 2 Deluxe system.
A LAN is – A gathering of people with computers and consoles who network a local area network (LAN), for the purpose of playing Multiplayer Games. Tournaments include Halo Reach, Team Fortress 2, Counter strike, Super Smash Brothers, Madden 2011, and Call of Duty.
Tickets are priced at $25 at the door, $5 for non playing guests. The venue boasts 12 deluxe projectors for superior game playing. BYOC
A special guest at the event will be Hady Basha. Come feel the vibe of the best Detroit Electro, Progressive and Tech House featuring Hady Basha with opener Jon Salem, Beginning at 9pm.
Training/Presentations are included in your admission to the LAN. There is limited seating and those who register online prior to the event will get priority when filling seats.
• Where the Internet is Going - Discussion with Paul Knific from Epic Technology Solutions and Douglas Ford, Chairman of the Michigan Technology Network – Greater Flint. The discussion will include what technologies there are for expanding your LAN across the network, different options for high bandwidth, connectivity, and recent legislation and funding and how it will affect the current Internet Landscape.
• Virtualization 101 – Eric Knific from Epic Technology Solutions.
• Open Network Concept – Gordon Caverly from MidState Consultants will discuss the idea of municipality controlled fiber/Wireless lines providing benefits for the public, Internet Users and providers.
• Intellectual Property & The Internet – Paul Knific from Epic Technology Solutions will investigate on what it means to be a “Pirate” on the internet.
