What is you "status piece" in your collection?

Post by gennss »

For me its my imported V-Saturn. Since no one else I know is a retro-gamer much less an import gamer, its the piece that I feel sets me a part. Almost like my trophy piece.

What is your "status piece"?

That's like asking someone to choose between their children.

lol @ noiseredux.

Mine would be my CIB NEO GEO AES and my 6 minty (all sealed when I got them) games for it. I have a few other neat items but that is definitely a favorite of mine. I purposely leave the controller out for it because people ask which system it belongs to.

That is a neat piece of gear - and a nice glamour shot. :)

I'm in the same boat with the OP, I don't have any retro gamer friends. My pinball tables are the big showpieces in my game room. After people do see my consoles, they get excited about the Atari Jr. (I have an old Merlin handheld that people like as well.)
I know from reading the forums on this site that my collection doesn't have any real console rarities, but my favorite piece is my Odyssey 2, followed closely by my Atari Pong.
Systems: Pong, Odyssey2, Atari 2600, NES, CDX, SNES, N64, Saturn, DC, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, GCN, Wii, Xbox360, OUYA
Handhelds: GB, GBC, GBA, DS lite, DSi, Virtual Boy (<< is that even a portable?)
EM Pinballs: Bally Dixieland, Gottlieb Flying Carpet
SS Pinball: GTB Circus, GTB Count-Down, GTB Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stern Lectronamo, Stern Galaxy, Bally Black Pyramid

Same here. Collecting for the AES is a status piece in and of itself.
