Remakes need to be treated as different games that way you can enjoy them more.
Also who ever said that Metroid is better than Zero Mission please don't kidd yourself.

Yes. If they could adapt the original gameplay exactly, duplicate the original games in that style, and maybe add in 2 or 3 more zones that would be amazing.

I'm still excited about Sonic 4 though. Even if it's only as good as the sonic advance or sonic rush games, it'll still be awesome just to play a new 2D sonic game on a real tv again.

Megaman X > Megaman Maverick Hunter X
Castlevania Rondo of Blood > Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles
Monster Attack > Earth Defense Force 2017
Klonoa > Klonoa Wii

All excellent examples, well done.

Yes I believe remakes exist. I think everyone does.

Now if you're wondering whether or not remakes are a good idea I would still say yes. If a good game can be genuinely upgraded (Graphics, sound, framerate, etc...) by porting it to a newer system then go for it. Nobody can force you to buy them so why worry so much if they get created at all?

they'd fuck it up. honestly. it'd be cool if it was done right, but i have no faith in any developer anymore to "do right" with game remakes/reboots.

I enjoyed all of the ReBirth games on the Wii. They weren't necessarily remakes, but more like re-imaginings, and they all did justice to their respective franchises.

As far as the PSP goes, there are a ton of games that I'm interested in on that handheld. The Mega Man, Mega Man X, Castlevania, and Ghosts 'n Goblins games all seem like games I would be interested in.

I think remakes can be good. There are varying definitions of the word though.

I personally separate it into two categories.

A presentation upgrade where merely the aesthetics have been upgraded. Redrawing the graphics to display properly on higher resolution tvs and possibly upgrading the sound but leaving the gameplay, controls & level design exactly the same.

A reimagination where levels are similar to the originals and inspired by them but with some additional and/or recalibrated controls, extra levels/secrets or modified level designs and boss patterns, expanded view and extra features like a different save/progression system, online play, co-op etc. where applicable.

Which approach I'd like to see really depends on the game. I think that bare minimum the graphics style would be kept but redrawn/rescaled to display on HD tvs while maintaining the exact same gameplay. Additonal content like extra levels and even a level editor would be nice and extra features like sharing of top scores and online play.

So, to all of you that which support remakes

Would you pick the enhanced remake over the original?
Would you buy Mario All Star over the NES mario?
Will you buy the RE on gamecube instead on psx?
Will you buy Kolona Wii over the original?
