Favorite 3rd party developers?

Post by Flake »

Who is your favorite (current) 3rd party developers? And if you want to say Sega (though I don't know why you would) I'd say go for it. At this point they are definitely out of the 1st party category.

I'd say for me it's a 3-way tie: Capcom/Konami/SNK

What can I say? I can't get enough Megaman/Castlevania/Arcade compiliations.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Konami and Capcom. You can't just say Konami, and you can't just say Capcom, they must be together!

Konami for sure. (More Castlevania games please, but not that horrid thing you just released on XBLA, thanks.)

Atlus for localizing all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff we wouldn't see otherwise.

I can't agree with Capcom, because for the most part they're just making crap these days. The Capcom of the past, absolutely. The Capcom of today, not a chance.

Namco, EA and Activision

Nah but really, I don't have one actually, so I'll just say Konami and Capcom. (well they brought Rocket Knight Adventures and Viewtiful Joe)

Not all current, but, Cave, Tecnosoft, Raizing/8ing, Treasure, G.Revolution, Taito, Compile, Genki, Square-Enix.... just to name a few.

Polyphony Digital isn't 3rd party, is it? Guess not.

In the grand history of video games?

The Capcom/Konami/Namco trio is hard to beat. Sega, obviously, if we are looking at the grand scheme of things. Rockstar in the past decade, because GTA is awesome. Everything Hashiriya said above. EA is classic for the NHL series, in my opinion. Atari and Activision if you go back far enough. Also Working Designs in the past, for their amazing localization work.

Makes one wonder why they never had a crossover. Simon(conan-esque, non-hellbent-for-leather version) vs. Wily, or Mega Man vs. Dracula(Bela Lugosi-esque, non-whatever-the-hell-he's-been-since-Symphony version)...

I'm not even a shoot em up fan, and I gotta make mention of Irem(R-type) here. Taito. Technos/Million. Naturally, as already stated, CapKon. Sega. SNK. Koei-Tecmo. Square-Enix("I'm living for giving the devil his due," but I aint burning for this company). Probably tons that aren't coming to me off the top of my head here, which isn't really picking favorites, I guess....

My top fave would most likely be Technos.
