iFixit tears down gaming devices this week

Kinda interesting. They've dismantled a Magnavox Odyssey 100, RCA Studio II, Atari 2600, and a Famicom.

iFixit was featured on /. earlier this week. I asked what measures they were taking to assure contributors they won't go the way of Instructables. They said that all the content is CC licensed, they're working on an XML schema to make the database machine readable (searchable, downloadable, etc), and they'll be doing regular dumps to Archive.org.

That is really encouraging. I'm sure you've all experienced finding a link to a mod or repair that you really want to do, only to get a 404. People move on and sites go down, it's important that this information stays on the internet. If you post a guide to iFixit, it should be available forever.
