Also how would you figure in copies of the game that were sold but either broke or were just thrown away? They would be counted as sold copies of the game but are completely out of the market because they're in a landfill somewhere.
It would be impossible to know exactly how many copies of a game exist at this moment because we can't know which were destroyed, broken, lost, etc. But that is why we would be looking at info like number of sales per month and current number of listings too. We would hopefully be able to use all that info to get a pretty good idea of how easy a game is to buy.
