Re: "Bootleg" Bill Or "For-Real" Frank?

Indeed, which is why I'm puzzled that I ended up with a bootleg Rocky & Pocky with Becky. :?

(queue Noise's ears buzzing)

Aside from the Nintendo being silk screened on the GBA board inside there will be a number physically stamped into the label for Nintendo carts. It is usually a 2 digit /letter combo. Will be on the front of portable carts since that's the only label and on the back one for consoles.

Y'know, I don't think any of my old GBA games had a number stamped on them. I mean, sure, I never looked for it, but still. I can't remember ever seeing one, even on games I bought brand new (like Twisted!, for instance)!

Yeah NR, it came up while I was Googling all this stuff. But I'm a little lost: does the article say something about not having the number stamped on the cart or were you just telling me about it?

one way that I found out if a GBA game is fake is to see where the metal contacts are.

Official games have a nintendo/year/copyright stamp just above the metal contacts.

Pirated games dont.

Some pirated games arent even sealed correctly. I have seen some where you can accually see the computer chips when you see them in the way that ive told you.

This is good for when you see one in real life. but when you buy it online, sadly thats not possible.

it all goes down to that famous saying "BUYER BEWARE"

Sometimes, you can't tell whether it is a bootleg or not, and you get an Indeterminate Ivan.
