I'm getting paid to play Call of Duty 4
I'm getting paid to play Call of Duty 4
had to share this...
i get a call the other day from a woman who works for Riley Children's Hospital here in indy, asking me if i would still be interested in participating in a research study on the effects of violent video game play on memory. i said of course. basically, they are giving me a laptop to take home and i can't play any other games for the next five weeks other than Call of Duty 4 for 1-2 hrs a day. i have to record my feelings in a diary and bring them to each appointment. at the appointments, i'll undergo an fMRI scan and be given basic memory challenges, where they will monitor my brain waves. basically they are trying to reverse any adverse effects of violent video game play by training the brain using memory exercises.
i am also being paid $750 to do this.
i feel extremely fortunate for this to have happened to me and thought i would share. i'll keep you guys posted on what happens next!

How did you meet this woman? Did she call you out of the blue?

IUPUI is a local college here in indy, and the Riley Children's Hospital is located on their grounds. they have a student section on their websites that lets you sign up to be considered for research projects and this one caught my eye. the thing that was awesome is that i volunteered myself almost 10 months ago, so this was really out of the blue.

Maybe they'd also be interested in the effects violent video games have on the FMRI of dead salmon.

I don't know... I don't think anyone could take nothing but Call of Duty for 5 weeks for any price!

I actually think your memory will improve.
Thanks everyone...
Re: I'm getting paid to play Call of Duty 4
I couldn't stand this game after a day, let alone 5 weeks? No thanks.
Re: I'm getting paid to play Call of Duty 4
So you guys are telling me that you honestly would not play a video game and do little else for $750? It's not like they're making me play Drake and the 99 Dragons or something.
Also, after rereading the outline, it appears that I only have to play the game for two full weeks, then the rest of the time I have to use some sort of memory building software.
I kinda like Call of Duty anyway so this is ok for me.

You said 1-2 hours a day. Does that mean that 2 hours is the most you can play each day?
