Crossover games

It's pretty well understood these days that if you ask for something enough times, it will be manufactured.
With the announcement of Street Fighter X Tekken, fans of both franchises, and even competitive fighting games as a whole, are anticipating a title that gamers have been fantasizing about since the late 90's arcade scene. "What if Ryu and Ken took on Heihachi and Kazuya? Or Dee-Jay vs Eddie Gordo. Or Ganryu vs E. Honda?" Long before that, it was dream matches such as Terry Bogard vs Ryo Sakazaki, and we eventually saw it happen in Fatal Fury Special, (eventually spawning a whole new SNK-universe encompassing franchise - King of Fighters). How about Ryu vs Kyo Kusanagi from King of Fighters? Say hello to Capcom VS SNK. Other companies would soon take notice of the success of SNK's fanboy dream matches, and began to swirl around their own franchise punch bowl. Mario against Link? Find out in Super Smash Bros. Does Jubei hold a candle to Samonosuke in the Onimusha Universe? Bam - Onimusha: Blade Warriors. Even Soul Calibur wanted to settle some bulletin board battles by including Link, Heihachi, Spawn, Yoda & Darth Vader, amongst others in their games. And don't get me started on Capcom picking a fight with Marvel comics, (or Mortal Kombat copycatting with DC.)
And it's not just fighting games that pit character against character.. Sega has it's fair share of inter-franchise racing games and tennis games. Nintendo has Mario Karts and Parties galore. And no matter how well or how terrible the product ends up being; we'll buy it and the companies will make money, because we're curious about settling that age-old argument with 11 year old Timmy Alderman at recess that one day - That Mario would totally own Sonic in a street fight!
Anyway, if you've made it this far, I know I've had to have rekindled some fanboy dream match discussions from the old playgrounds in your head. What games do you hope developers finally make one day?
For me, it will always be Rick from Splatterhouse totally obliterating both Billy and Jimmy Lee and ALL the Battletoads...
.... in a kart racer from Hudson.
