Why don't new games have contests associated with them?
Why don't new games have contests associated with them?
Remember when new games came out and there were contests associated with them? I'm talking older Atari games like Swordquest and Atlantis etc.
Well why don't new games have contests to win cash and crazy prizes? If back in the early 80's publishers could scrounge up $150,000 and make gold crowns with jewels I don't see why they can't do it today.
With todays hardware and the interwebs I'm imagining some crazy contests and riddles that could stump the world. It would be so cool.

Funny thing about Advent Rising there is that the game sold so poorly they couldn't afford to give out the million dollar prize. The contest was canceled in the end.

Because nowadays gamers are thrilled with their awesome digital trophies and digital achievements. Who wants $100,000 when you can have a visual representation of a cup displayed on your screen for people all over the world to not give a shit about?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_game
"A perfect game is defined by Major League Baseball as a game in which a pitcher (or combination of pitchers) pitches a victory that lasts a minimum of nine innings and in which no opposing player reaches base.[2] Thus, the pitcher (or pitchers) cannot allow any hits, walks, hit batsmen, or any opposing player to reach base safely for any other reason—in short, "27 up, 27 down". The feat has been achieved 20 times in the history of major league baseball—18 times since the modern era began in 1900."

I understood nothing of that explanation.
Edit: If anyone wants to treat me like a 3-year-old retard to explain, I'm cool.

Pretty much the game is perfect if you win and the other team doesn't hit the ball once.
