Are you the original owner of your retro systems?

Post by hashiriya1 »

Are you the original owner of your retro systems? If so, which ones were bought in their respective generations? My first Famicom is still alive and kicking after getting it for xmas back in 1984. After the NES was released, I felt cheated that US games couldn't work on my famicom. Actually at first I didn't even know the NES was a US version of the Famicom. I was merely a zygote at the time.

The definition of "retro" in this thread is pre-2000.

Here's my list of systems, in order I got them:
All systems that aren't dead are still being used.

5200 (dead) :(
Famicom x 2, 1 dead :(
Master System 3D set (US model)
Game Boy (dead) :(
Atari Lynx (dead) :(
Genesis w/Sega CD (CD unit dead) :(
SuperGrafx
SFC w/ Super Wild Card Game Copier (Super Wild Card died after 1 year, karma perhaps?)
Turbo Express (Sound is almost dead, just use headphones) :?
SNES
NES (Had a Famicom for years, but got a new NES Deck when prices dropped after the SNES release)
PS1
Dreamcast

These are the systems I grew up with. There are other retro systems, but they were bought within the past 10 years (Saturn, TG16, among others)

Well, my NES and SNES were my sister's, so they are original in a sense.

But like an asshole I sold off my first N64, believe it or not, and it pisses me off to no end.
So thats why I really, really want my childhood back, in the form of all the N64 games I have missed.

My Genesis, Dreamcast, and Atari 7800 were not originially mine.

The only pre-owned console I have is a Sega CDX. All my other Genesiseseses and whatnot have been with me since they were new.

The only console I own which I bought new was my oXbox, when I was younger I use to cash in my old consoles to help pay for the upgrade to a new console (ie sell my NES to buy a Genny) and so on.

My NES and Genesis are both originally mine. I had my original PS1 stolen  , but otherwise would still have that.

My game boy pocket and color, N64, PSX, and Dreamcast were mine originally. My Genesis and Saturn were bought of my neighbors and everything else pre 2000 was bought used.

i'm the original owner of my N64. bought it back in 1998 at Toy's R Us in Vallejo (which doesn't exist anymore). I'm still loving the console to this day. :)

I'm also the original owner of my Fat PS2.

both systems are alive and well.
