I'd like to nominate Super Dodge Ball (the NES one with Kunio-Kun characters).

Kings of the Beach. There is an NES version but I loved the PC game.

I also liked Joe Montana II Sports Talk Football due to being able to score a touchdown with every single half-back pass I threw.

Mutant League / Brutal Sports games count?

I also really liked Golfamania for the Master System. "Nychot!" (translation: Nice shot! in high-pitched and garbled SMS speak).

NHL Hockey (this first one) for the Genesis with the incredible and iconic title song.

Also the baseball park level in Streets of Rage 2 should count.

NHL 95
RBI Baseball '94 (Genesis)
World Series Baseball
Blades of Steel
Baseball Stars

Maybe some day there will be a pre-PS2 poll so some of these get their due respect:

Virtua Tennis
NFL 2K1
NHL Hitz

Awesome game. The PS1 dodge ball game is pretty good too.

You know, this thread made me realize something. I'm not a sport fan, but I actually played a lot sports games in the 8-bit era. They were so simple and accesible. It seems as technology improved and they became more like the real thing I lost interest. Only exaggerated sports seem to grab my interest like Sega Soccer Slam or the occasional skate or snowboard game like the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and SSX Tricky

HOLY CRAP! I haven't seen the X's and O's football game in years! I totally forgot about it. That's cool that you have that.

I honstly think it could be used as one!

Took the tracballs apart to inspect and lube the bearings, inspect the shafts, surprised to find that they were in great shape, later found a ziplock bag with all of the original bearings and shafts (worn badly) so it looks like whoever had it did keep up maintenance on it.
