I actually thought of Hotline Miami. Close but no cigar, as the game which inspired the director for this scene is actually itself partially inspired by Hotline Miami (as well as John Woo films). That game is The Hong Kong Massacre. I have played it by the way, it's worth checking out. It's Hotline Miami meats Max Payne with shades of Stranglehold
