So, here's a place to go to if you just want to see all those super expensive games that you'll never buy for outrageous prices:

BAD:
Retro Game Trader
13885 SW Farmington Rd
Beaverton, Oregon
(503) 430-5187
https://www.facebook.com/RetroGameTrader

There's nothing wrong with the staff here (from my experience), but the prices and stockpiling are ridiculous. Everything is overpriced. Not just by a little, by a lot. It appears that they buy a lot of stuff (the expensive stuff) off eBay, then increase the price by 10% or so and stick it in the store.

Sure, there's a case with a Turbo Duo, a TG16 with CD attachment, Popful Mail CIB, Panzer Dragoon CIB, and some other gems ... but they're all right at or above eBay asking price.

They have a Turbo Duo, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-TURBO-DUO-S ... 20e5ba0ff7

Marked at $750.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Genesis $30.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 on GameCube $34.

Six months ago, they were reasonably priced. Sonic 3 was $12. The PS2 games were reasonable, now most are $20-$40 a piece (Not expensive games).

They don't have a single Saturn game below $20 ... and they are NOT gems. They're the bargain binned crap that doesn't even demand $5 online.

The worst part about this place isn't just the markup ... it's that, they opened a "Retro Game Trader" right next to a long established local game store "Game Trader", which has been here for 20+ years. And they generally go in buy their games on sale and stockpile them in their store marking them 10% or whatever above eBay. Game Trader gets confused with them all the time by people who don't know. Sadly, GT has taken a heavy hit in business (mostly due to the mall redesign which removed both foot traffic and all advertisement ... because ... money?) But, in addition we have places like this ... and there's a couple of them. They're kinda made to look like independent shops ... but all versions of this store look the same. Almost feels like a shtick, combined with the ludicrous prices and the fact that they likely pay buy it now prices on eBay ...

I would just like to say this place is ridiculous. People should be aware there's a significantly better game store down the street.

A store I can suggest, though it's on its way out unless things turn around, is Game Trader (the real one) in the Cedar Hills Shopping Center. They'll hook you up.

2nd Chance [Grand Rapids]:
2650 East Beltline Ave SE
Grand Rapids Charter Township, MI
49546 (616)285-5054

This store is now closed. Tried to go there last weekend and the place is empty :( . Quite sad, used to get pretty decent NES/SNES deals there.

Clearly my area is in a constant state of flux when it comes to game stores.

XP Games closed, then it reopened under a new owner as a Zeplinz store which is what it currently is now. Then shortly after the Ashland store opened the Medford Zeplinz store closed. :? Confusing eh?

So just change XP Games to >>> Zeplinz and remove Zeplinz in Medford. I'll verify the number in Ashland is the same.

XP Games: Zeplinz
1632 Ashland Street
Ashland, OR 97520-2327
(541) 488-5400

Oh and +1 to Zeplinz in Ashland, run by a collector who put some of his own collection in to get it up and running. He knows his stuff, his prices can be a bit up there at times but hes willing to wheel and deal a bit on certain items. :D

Zepplinz:
1110 Biddle Road
Medford, OR 97504-6120
(541) 779-4492

I have also recieved news the Game Swap [NE Agness Ave.] will be closing soon and merging with the Game Swap [SE 6th St.] location. Also note, Game Swap [SE 6th St.] shares a building with Video World, so it can be hard to see from the street. The address should be changed to 942 SE 6th St.

They moved everything from their GR location to their new Kalamazoo location.

Also, updated!

Need to delete these from the list:

XP Games:
1632 Ashland Street
Ashland, OR 97520-2327
(541) 488-5400

Zepplinz:
1110 Biddle Road
Medford, OR 97504-6120
(541) 779-4492

One name changed and the other closed. :)

Also add this one:

Love - All Games
129 NW Douglas Blvd.
Winston, OR 97496
(541) 671-2322

A small store in a shopping center, took a bit to find it but they had an ok selection of stuff.
