so the NES version of Donkey Kong only has 3 levels that loop. Which means that I've "beaten" the NES loop a few times this past year. But feel funny about adding it to my list. It's only 3 levels. It feels so so so short. I don't know.

So I beat Art of Fighting yesterday and Stargate about five minutes ago. I figured I'd give Art of Fighting a go again after having recently played through so many fighters. It kicked my butt the first time I sat down with it about a month ago, but with some practice and dedication, I eventually overcame.

Stargate I had actually gotten about half way through about a year and a half ago, and I managed to find my password, so after beating Art of Fighting yesterday, I decided to sit down with it. I got a little further last night and then made it to the final boss about two or so...and then he kicked my butt. Repeatedly. As far as I can tell, if you lose once to Ra, turn off the system and try again, as it's pretty much impossible to beat him with no upgrades and only six of the base grenades. His second form I found to be much easier to beat than the first, though it still came down to the last hit. But I won the day, and he's dead now. That's all that matters.

    Sonic Chaos (Game Gear)
    Sonic Triple Trouble (Game Gear)
    Mega Man 5 (NES)
    Mega Man 3 (NES)
    Uno (PSN)
Left 4 Dead 2 (PC Download)
    Super Meat Boy (PC Download)
And Yet it Moves (PC Download)
    Motorstorm (PS3)

    *New*Windosill (PC Download)
A small and short flash game I grabbed in the Steam holiday sale. Not sure it was worth what I payed for it, but even still, the presentation was nice and I did enjoy it.

    *New*Final Fantasy II (GBA)
This was another long one coming. I started it many years ago but never got very far due to the strange level up system and the fact that I just generally suck at RPGs. I restarted it and have been playing it on and off for several months. While I did enjoy it in general, there are still a lot I dislike about these retro RPGs, mostly the grinding and random encounters, but other things, like half baked stories, reptitive dungeons, etc. Still, I'm glad I finished it, as I have never finished a Final Fantasy game before.

Final count: 62

This is probably my last update for the year. I was much more successful then I had ever thought I would be. I look forward to participating in this thread again next year!

Total: 73

Aura-Aura Climber is a great little game for only 200 points. It'll last you an hour or two to beat the missions, but the endless mode and challenges will keep you coming back for more. I enjoyed it well enough.

Christmas NiGHTs is great, it really got me in the mood for christmas. I dont really have much else to say about it though.

Chessmaster is awful, the AI is tragic. I feel a bit of a cheater including this one as there's not much of a game here, but oh well. Between these games I technically beat 12 games before Christmas, even if two of them weren't actually on my 12 games list.

Next up: God knows. I wouldn't mind playing through Final Fantasy IX or XII soon, but my PS2 broke. So I guess it'll be one of the following games that I got for Christmas - Mario Galaxy 2, Sin & Punishment 2, Mario All-Stars, Golden Sun DS, Mushroom Men, River City Ransom or Kirby's Dreamland 3. Wow, I feel spoilt :D

I meant to comment before, but that is damn impressive. I am a fan of both of those games but can only get about 2/3 of the way through either before the asshole AI stops making it fun. Bravo!

Killer Instinct Gold will be my N64 entry for the year. I have played this less than the SNES or Game Boy KI games, so it provided a nice challenge at times. Saberwulf FTW. I really wish we'd get a new entry in this series....

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is probably my favorite Mario game, which is saying something. It is also quite challenging, and I wasn't sure I would get through it at points. A very rewarding - and very long - game to add to the list.

Darkspawn Chronicles was a fun, though brief romp. I wanted to play some DA here at the end of the year since I played a bunch in the first few months, and I am eagerly awaiting the sequel next year. DC was a cool little "alternative ending" episode with an awesome finish.

100 is in my sights!

I'm definitely on the bandwagon for 2011. Several of you have suggested this thread has been a motivating factor in diving into an excessive backlog, and mine is HUGE.
