ah okay. If you have a couple hours to spare, you should be able to beat that game too.

Hmmm - anyone every play Shadow of the Beast? I've avoided the poor Genesis port, but the PCE-CD one is supposed to be fixed.

Psygnosis rarely disappointed.

C2: Judgment Clay (SNES)
Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle (SNES)

TOTAL: 57

You know, I'm not a big fan of Ranma 1/2. It's an anime I've never really paid much attention to. And after having played the garbage that was Street Combat, I was hesitant to ever give Hard Battle a chance, but I finally sat down with it, and it's honestly not that bad. It's not great, but it's nowhere near as terrible as the worst fighting games I've played on the SNES. It's got a simple two-button control scheme (three if you count the jump button). Animation is fluid and characters are responsive.

What kills it for me is the special move system. It's similar to Primal Rage, in that you have to hold the power attack button, then execute the movement, then release the attack button, though Hard Battle's special moves aren't nearly as complicated as Primal Rage's were. Usually it's a simple movement, such as a straight direction press, but holding it for more powerful moves can prove overly dangerous, since you limit your means to attack, block, and maneuver in an attempt to perform the move. The longer you hold the button, the more powerful the move, though there are reasonable limits to its strength. While not all moves are executed this way, the vast majority are. In general I felt I was hindered by the command and instead began favoring throws and the few moves I had that didn't require such a command.

Oh well, I had more fun than I expected I would. It's certainly a better game than the likes of Street Combat or Ultraman, and I'd willingly say I enjoyed it more than C2: Judgment Clay.

Sky Scream is a neat little indie game that lasts about ten minutes, if you can manage to survive that long. It's a unique shmup with NES inspired graphics, where you must battle various enemies while falling through the sky on your descent to Earth. It's actually pretty challenging and worth a shot. It's free!

Sonic 2 was a lot harder to complete than I thought it would be! I've played the game a million times, but never actually finished it until last night. The final stage took me a bit of time to get used to. The Sonic robot was a beast!

I'm about half-way through Sonic 3 right now. I find it to be more difficult overall than the first two games, but its balanced out since its easier to gain 1-ups.

jfe, you're really missing out on not getting all the emeralds. I know I sound like a broken record, but trust me it is worth it. Especially in Sonic 2, which may be the easiest game to get the emeralds.

I had downloaded them to my 360 before I really started collecting again, so I'm playing through them on there to get the achievement points. To be honest, I'm not sure that I even owned a Genesis when they were released on XBLA... the only exception may be Sonic and Knuckles.

On the bright side, I won't have any choice but to play Sonic CD on my CDX! :) Knuckles Chaotix, on the other hand, will have to wait. I can't find a decent priced copy anywhere locally!

And Luke, I watched some Youtube footage of Super Sonic and I really do want to go back and do a Chaos Emerald run now!

It's possible to get, I think, 5 emeralds in the first zone. For me it's easier to collect the emeralds with using sonic alone. You have to collect fewer rings plus tails doesn't keep running into bombs.
