I Dig It - iPhone *new*
TOTAL: 59

Strangely addicting game that plays like Dig Dug, just without the enemies. It's mainly an exploration game that is perfect for helping to pass the time while on the go. I may download the sequel in the next few days, but I'm going to read some reviews first.

I'm still playing Baseball Superstars 2010 for the iPhone, and I just started on Zenonia, which is from the same developer. It seems like a VERY deep action RPG, so I'm excited to see what it ends up giving me on the joy-o-meter. Almost like World of Warcraft meets Zelda, as weird as that sounds...

Caveman Ninja - - Wii (Arcade)
Zombie Wasteland - iPhone
Espgaluda II - iPhone *new*
Bayonetta - 360 *new*

TOTAL: 50

Both of these were a lot of fun, and I was especially surprised with just how well Espgaluda translated to the iPhone. Hopefully we see some more Cave goodness on the device.

Bayonetta had moments of absolute brilliance and joy, but was unfortunately uneven overall. The story/storytelling is atrocious and the combat often becomes more about button mashing then skillful comboing, but it has style and visuals that more than compensate for these elements. Considering its pedigree, it is only fair to compare the game to the Devil May Cry series, and I would rank this as better than DMC 2 or 4, but not as good as 3 or 1.

------------------
I worked to finish up Bayonetta early this morning to get to an even 50 games at the half way point of the year. I know that this isn't a competition, but the thread has motivated me to actually play more games through to the end this year then I ever have before. I have also started making a more serious dent in my backlog, which is nice. The fact that I've averaged almost 2 games a week baffles me. I can't imagine keeping up this pace for the rest of the year, but who knows.

Some stats
Total Games: 50

System:
Current Gen: 31 (9- 360, 10 -P33, 6 - Wii, 4 - PSP, 2- iPhone)
Retro: 19 (across 10 systems)

Genre:
Shmup - 15
First Person Shooter - 6
Sports/Racing - 5
Platformer - 4
Run n' Gun - 4
Beat em'Up/Hack n' Slash - 4
RPG - 3
Third Person Shooter - 3
Other - 6

Best game released this year: God of War 3
Best retro game finished for first time: Gunstar Heroes

Thanks again to Luke for starting this thread. Here's hoping the next six months bring more gaming goodness!

Sure, why not? Of what I've played of 2010 releases, it is easily the best in terms of gameplay, music, visuals, and overall fun factor. I really enjoy that series and the genre in general, and GoW 3 is arguably the best game in that genre since DMC3.

2010 games I've completed: God of War III, Bayonetta, Dragon Age Origins: Awakening (expansion), Super Street Fighter IV, Metal Slug XX, Metro 2033, Bioshock 2, Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype

Metro 2033 would be runner-up, SSF4 would be my honorable mention.

I still intend to get to a few more that came out earlier this year. I'm partway through Super Mario Galaxy 2, I have No More Heroes 2 on the shelf (still need to finish up NMH1), I have Deathsmiles and Dante's Inferno coming in the mail and want to get around to Bad Company 2, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Mass Effect 2 at some point (I still need to play ME1 first!). But otherwise there's not a whole lot from the first half of the year that interests me right now...(EDIT: oh, except Sin and Punishment 2)

You'll love Dante's Inferno.

The most recent GoW i enjoyed was Chains of Olympus. The rest had no soul... especially 3. Boring to say the least for me.

Tales in a Box: Hidden Shapes in Perspective DSiWare *NEW*
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth DS *NEW*
The Rub Rabbits DS *NEW*
Total: 34

Managed to get myself a bit distracted from my alphabet marathon. I played Miles Edgeworth as a break, and then kinda kept going on DS stuff. I also bought Chrono Trigger on DS the other day, but I haven't beaten that yet.

Tales in a Box is the game that people kept throwing a trailer around of claiming it was the 3DS before the 3DS was shown. Its known in the US as Looksleys Line Up. It was pretty good fun, but the overly sensitive camera meant that I ended up having to keep quite still and tilt the DS rather than my head to look about, meaning it kind of lost its 3D effect a bit. If you don't know about this game, the mission is to tilt the little world in the DS to find hidden images. However, they only appear when you line up objects at just the right angle. Its very clever, and I highly recommend it.

Miles Edgeworth is a great addition to the phoenix wright franchise. The gameplay feels like its what playing phoenix wright should be like. I missed the court scenes, but the cast and gameplay of this was so enjoyable, it may be my favourite in the series. I hope they keep the investigation elements of phoenix wright like this, and then bring back the courtroom scenes for the actual testimonies. Hell, they could even add in the forensics mini games from Apollo Justice and it'd make for a lovely well rounded Ace Attorney game! Atm though, I'm looking forward to the creators next game Ghost Trick. It looks interesting.

The Rub Rabbits was only £3, and as a fan of Project Rub (Feel the Magic XX/XY in the US) I couldnt resist. It's quite short, and easier than the first, and i beat it in one session. However, it was pretty fun. Overall though, I prefer the mini games in the first game, these ones haven't taken me quite as much. Still a good purchase though :)#

One extra note to make: I also beat Pokemon Yellow since I last posted, preparing a team for my alphabet marathon P game, Pokemon Stadium. I havent added it to my list because I want to keep that as only games I've never beaten before, but I thought i'd add it here anyhow.

Although by beating these games, I could technically remove T,R and maybe M from my marathon list (and my overdue C with chrono trigger), the idea was to cut down my backlog. As most of those are new games, I'm gonna not count them as part of my marathon.Next post I should have finished Little Kings Story and Muramasa for my marathon hopefully, and maybe even Chrono Trigger will be added to that. Probably won't be done with Okami by then though. That game goes on forever.

P.S accidently edited an earlier post with this list....oops!

TL;DR: They were all good games and I need to get back to my marathon.

taz was surprisingly a pretty good game. started off slow, but the last few levels i thought were fun. if the controls were a bit tighter and the game play wasn't 'cheap' in certain areas i would definitely call this a 'must play sega platformer.'

world of illusion was good and easy. the boss battles were a joke. my great grandma could conquer this game.

vectorman 2 is overrated. highly overrated. SEVERELY overrated. i have beaten this 2 or 3 times and STILL do not find what all the hoopla is about. i hate the bland, dreary color palate they used. not a single bright color to be found.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Jedi is the prettiest of the trilogy games, but lacks something. That something is difficulty. It still has some cheap parts, but overall, even on Jedi, it's not as difficult as the previous games.

Yeah, a crossword puzzle. Yes it's not a video game, but I suck at crossword puzzles, and finishing a NYT one, a Friday one at that, is something I have to announce.

Haha, I had a laugh at the inclusion of a crossword.
