I have a couple NES controllers I kept around that have no wires, this is a perfect use for them!

I see where you're coming from. I'm gonna try to find some defective controllers myself before gutting one of my current working controllers.

I don't really see how the controllers are destroyed if the board is still lying around. I can understand if the PCB is trashed, though I don't necessarily agree.
