Yeah, trying to imitate Dave Wise's work is more or less impossible.

Looks really interesting. I wonder if they got the physics right with this (so jumping and such feels fluid like the old games) as well as a collision detection. That's really the difference between good fan games and god awful ones really, even if the level designs are interesting. There IS a DKC level editor in the works as well at a site called DKC Atlas and it's looking pretty good; for making levels with the SNES roms.

edit: Looks like there's a playable demo you can download as well.

I like the glimmering galleon music:

It looks really great when nothing is moving, but as expected something is off when the players start moving and interacting with the environment. The thing about fan games is that they can have great levels and ideas, but replicating the play control that a company like RARE developed is near impossible.

I don't know. It looks like an admirable attempt to recreate the feel of the original DKC's, but it just won't be the same. Just listen to the music, it's just...off.

This... actually looks promising! Cool level design (really just a combination of old ones, but then again that's what most "new" things are), fluid gameplay (or so it seems..), and there's music.

One thing I'm really glad they reused is possibly my favourite enemy sound effect: the loud "OHH!" from the kremlings gives out all kinds of satisfaction!

Not a "fan" of "fan" made sequels to original series, especially when they push it as being a "challenge" such as the Zelda Link to the Past "fan-made" style games and the Super Mario World, Super Metroid ones.

It's like trying to take the mona-lisa or some other famous piece of art and altering it, it just doesnt do it for me.
