RetroGen's SuperNES Adapter

Post by pakopako »

Wait. What?

RetroGen, the makers of the ultra-portable Genesis/Nomad2 a year or two back, have created an adapter for the SNES to play Genesis/Mega Drive games.

Satoshi mentioned this and I just stumbled upon it, but hey, how is this possible? Is it a Genesis-on-a-Chip using only the power/outputs of the SNES via cartridge slot? (Akin to the NES adapters.) I am curious, if just scientifically, how well this device works.

If this works with every game and S-Video, it would be quite impressive indeed. Hell, even if only some games worked with it, I'd love the higher resolution. Rewire a Genesis controller for SNES :P

That is really really neat, I am tempted, but apart from novelty I cant see me really using it. I guess my biggest question is, can I use the power base converter with it?

Paying 20 bucks, having compatibility issues and not even saving AV cable space...It would just be a better idea to be a smart shopper and pay the $30 for a Genesis and some games.

Agreed. With the actual Genny you have the option for 32X and Sega CD expandability, too

I'd like to see a Genesis cart adapter for the Sega Saturn's memory cartridge slot. I think that would kick ass 8)

Pfft, the Genesis has been able to read SNES games for years. Hell, you don't even need a special cartridge. Just perform this simple mod.
