Thanks guys! (and the factoid about the .brush extension is great).

Okay, so I had the SegaCD version of this one when I was in junior high, and I loved it. (I was a Maniac Mansion fan on NES). However, I never beat Monkey Island on SCD. So now I'm working on it again, and a lot of it is coming back to me. Great game!

I wish I had gotten my SCUMMVM to work on my PS2. I downloaded the newer one with USB support, and was able to fire the engine up. It recognized Monkey Island, but when loading it would freeze, sadly.

I never finished Monkey Island the first time round on my Amiga 5000 and I can't play on the Amiga anymore as the outputs are broken. I have ScummVM on my laptop though and have been trying to play some of this when I can. I got stuck a few months ago though and let it sit. This time I will endeavour to play it and finish it. Yay, good choice.

I would really like to finally jump into one of these. SCUMMVM sounds easy enough to get going, but since I don't have the original, does anyone know a good ROM link?

Many months ago I ran across a decent complete copy of the Sega CD version of the game so I bought it with the intention of playing it along with Together Retro. I'll try my best to log some time with it this weekend and next.

IIRC, I got mine in a SCUMM pack on Underground Gamer or Mininova

I play it on the Dreamcast via ScummVM with the mouse and keyboard!

(I disk switch to the actual CD version of this game)

That seems to be an excellent way to play the game.

In any case I have progressed as far as getting past the "guard dogs" and have explored the bar. Now I am looking around the island.

By the way the manual and helpful hints book that come with the CD version of the game are very nice!

Not sure if this is cool or not - if not feel free to delete the post.

Here's the Sega CD version of the game (compressed to about 45MB): http://www.sendspace.com/file/1itqiv

To play on a Sega CD:
1. Extract the Zip Archive to a folder
2. Convert the MP3s to WAVs
3. Run the included segacuemaker.exe to make a .CUE file
4. Use the .CUE file to burn your CDR (using a program like Nero)

I haven't tested the game thoroughly, but the source of the rip is a trusty one.

Enjoy!
