im also just getting somewhere between 8000-9000. And i thought i´d do better since im good at the nes verisons :S

Got 7,875 after about 30 minutes on the red label rom. This game is brutal, it almost brings me to tears. Very addictive though.

9650 on the shockwave version at midway.com - the background literally exploded just before I got killed!

Classic Game, great choice, really glad to have an excuse to play it!

It was with 3 lives. I posted before that I used 9 lives for the game, but started to feel like a pussy.

Just banged hard for a while and managed to learn the moves. Although the reverse button would be nice.

I'm not sure how it is with the MAME-version, but in the SNES-version the default points for extra is 10000pts.
I presume they're adapted from the arcade, as it's supposed to be faithful to the original.

OK, I think I am getting the hang of this I just broke 10,000 getting 13,525 points on the red label rom using a keyboard.

Ok, getting a little better. 19625 is my high score so far in Red Label Defender on MAME.
