Considering 'Beauty and the Beast' is my favorite movie of all time, I feel compelled to give Belle's Quest and Roar of the Beast at least a try.

My game for this month would be Batman on the NES. I don't know if I'm going to have time for it, but I have heard some people talk about it. I'd be very curious about their reactions, especially when battling Joker at the end.

Like a lot of 8-bit Batman games, the original NES Batman is very good. It's really astounding how much atmosphere SunSoft was able to create with such limited resources. The NES Batman is also a truly well designed, and very fun game to play. I love it. What I don't love, is the Joker fight. SunSoft kinda blew it on that part. Your best bet is to just punch him repeatedly as fast as you possibly can. I guess. That's the only strategy that I ever saw work. Maybe there's some trick to it I don't know. Anyway, don't skip Batman on NES. The OST is worth it alone.

Yes Batman on the NES is probably my favorite of all the Batman games. The music starts playing in my head just at the mention of it. Batman on the Genesis is a decent game too. As is Batman Returns.

My wife grew up on the NES version. Her and her sister replayed through it a few years back and had fun with it, but it can be tricky.

I booted back up The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse last night, and really liked it a lot. The game starts bog-standard at first, maybe with a touch of Rescue Rangers-style play, but changes quickly once you get the various outfits. There's been some pretty varied and inspired level design after that slow start. I think I need to change the platform I'm playing on, though; the game already has some slippery controls at times, and I think it's being exacerbated by my playing on my Android tablet.

Yeah unfortunately touch controls and platformers typically don't jive well.

Well, I'm using my SNES30 Pro controller, but I still think I'm encountering Bluetooth lag. I used to feel a bit of it with the Wii U Pro controller, too. I don't think I'd be able to handle that game with touch control; despite it being Disney, it's actually not toothless.

EDIT: Moved over to the PC and things felt much better. Managed to finish it off. Not sure I did that last battle correctly, it took forever to take him down. It was a pretty good game, actually! I'd definitely recommend it after all the top-tier stuff on SNES has been exhausted.

EDIT 2: Yes, I did it "wrong". You can use the magical shot, and the flaming enemies will drop lamps to refill your magic instead of hydrants for refilling water. If you run out of magic, though, I'm pretty sure you have to drop back to the firefighter suit.

Well I beat my first retro game for this TR, it's Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for Genesis. Overall I'd give the game a 7/10. You can read my review here.

Knocked out Disney's Jungle Book today. Not sure if I will play through another this month since the genre isn't my thing, but I do have a few I could fall back on. We'll just have to see how I feel.
