Together Retro: Metal Gear

Post by noiseredux »

who's playing? Which version?

I fired up the PS2 version (so MSX) about an hour ago just to see how it was, and really I'm having a lot of fun with it. I can definitely see myself enjoying this one through to the end. I don't believe it's all that long - Howlongtobeat has it around 4 or so hours.

I'll be playing on the NES. About 15 years ago I got close to finishing this game, but I remember doing something that took my rank down, and I didn't want to start it again. Time for some unfinished business. LOCK N LOAD!

This is going to be a portable 2D Metal Gear extravaganza for me. I have Metal Gear and Metal Gear ready to go on the Vita MGS collection, plus I've picked up Metal Gear Solid on the Game Boy Color to play through afterwards too.

escaped from a prison cell, saved Grey Hound, and now I'm at what appears to be a boss battle. This game is fucking awesome.

EDIT: I'm running around the 2nd floor right now and in the past few rooms I'm being detected the moment I walk in. I feel like I'm not even in a line of sight. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

EDIT2: Nevermind. I figured it out. Big Boss tipped me off to my issue.

I've never played the MSX original, so I'll dive into that.

I just sent the writeup to Nick - it's pretty bare bones, but I've been feeling sick the last 2-3 days so it is what it is. In any case, if you need help finding a port, I am happy to help you here in the thread.

I own Metal Gear Solid on PS1, Metal Gear Solid 2 on Xbox and Metal Gear Solid 3 on 3DS.

Do any of these contain an unlockable of the original?

If not, I might jump into the MSX VC release.

I don't think so.
