At the end of the Machine, Ecco shoots off and there's a black screen for a second. I appeared almost on top of an alien. I swam down and saw the queen (or whatever) and started shooting her. She spit some black balls at me and I died instantly.
Then it put me at the beginning of the Machine again. Are they crazy?
Well, I ended up beating the machine two more times, and even though I survived longer against the queen, I still died a couple of more times because I accidently touched her.
In regards to the discussion about Ecco regenerating, yes, he does heal during the fight (I'm playing the CD version) just like in the Tube and the Machine. It didn't help me much because the damage the queen spews can knock out your whole energy meter.
I'll battle the queen some more in the next few days. I don't think it's a cakewalk as I've been led to believe, especially since it sends you back to the Machine when you die during the fight.
The key to the whole fight is taking minimal damage as you take out the SPOILER
queens eyes. Once thats done, you can just take it very slowly and carefully for the last part.....SPOILER
just make sure you don't get eaten... :pAlso judging from the sega CD version having regenerating health I'd say it's another difference between versions, although I COULD be wrong. I guess we'll have to see if any more mega drive/genesis players reach the final boss so we can find out.
