Zombie Revenge

Post by sayewonn »

This one surprised me. I remember it getting mixed reviews back when it was released so avoided it at first. But when Sega pulled the plug on the Dreamcast the games became dirt cheap and so I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did. Far deeper than it appears and I especially like Gun mode. This is definitely one of the better modern brawlers, not that there are a lot of them.

James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire

Agent Under Fire represented a large improvement over the average Tomorrow Never Dies games. A good campaign and decent multiplayer make this a solid way to kill an afternoon. I'll tell you one thing; that framerate made me forget about Goldeneye and Perfect Dark as much as I liked them.

Batman: Return of the Joker

Not quite the slam dunk its presentation would have you believe. That being said its still a pretty damn good action game. Its also worth it to see the NES pushed to its limits.

Metroid

Still a classic today. I went into this expecting it to be incredibly dated and incomprehensible by today's standards but found the game's design does an excellent job of subtly teaching you its mechanics. It can still be a little frustrating without a map but is still great without it.

Gley Lancer

Excellent, excellent import only shooter that is one of my top ten favorites for the Genesis. Diverse mechanics, great but uneven graphics, and a long quest make this a great purchase if you are even a slight fan of the genre.

Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose

This is my favorite Tiny Toon game. Great mechanics, excellent production values and tight control make this a great platformer. As expected of Konami when they were arguably at their peak. It is only let down by its lacking difficulty.

Bonk's Revenge

A big, big improvement over the first game. Bonk's Adventure was rough around the edges but the sequel is a legitimately great game. In my opinion its the best of the trilogy.

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts

My favorite in the series. Hard as hell but still worth it in my opinion. The slowdown is embarrassing as hell but that is due to sloppy programming than the system itself.

Jackal

Post by sayewonn »

Once upon a time I wasn't that big on two-player coop. Who am I fooling I'm still not much for multiplayer. However! I could still appreciate games like Contra, Double Dragon, and Jackal. I'll admit I had to warm up to Jackal though, something didn't click with me at first. Overall this is a solid game and a damn sight better than slogfests like Iron Tank.

Crack Down

Post by sayewonn »

http://www.classic-games.net/crack-down/

Not the awesome 360 game but a port of Sega's arcade game from the late 80s. At first there are a number of factors working against it; the postage stamp sized playing area, the useless map, and the average graphics. But the action is solid and most of all fun, making this a short but enjoyable little romp that can be had for a few bucks.
