Ghosts 'n Goblins

http://www.classic-games.net/ghosts-n-goblins/

Ghosts 'n Goblins is a good game. The NES version is not. This is another Micronics hack job and resulted in many frustrating months when I was little. I know we like to think of this version as a classic as it was the introduction the series for many but it simply isn't good.

Legendary Axe

http://www.classic-games.net/legendary-axe/

When my brother initially bought a Turbo Grafx we suffered with Keith Justice for a few weeks. But it was Legendary Axe and Bonk that made us really appreciate the system. As a fan of Astyanax I especially liked this game and noted the similarities. Little did I know the reasons why they were similar. Great game and still challenging and enjoyable today.

Heavy Barrel

A solid top down shooter that I enjoyed playing in coop with my cousins. And I don't even like multiplayer that much.

Shadow Dancer

It took me awhile to appreciate this for what it is. Coming off the back of Revenge of Shinobi didn't help either. But in the end I grew to like Shadow Dancer. I still prefer RoS/Shinobi III style more.

Soul Blazer

Its kind of funny that I played Soul Blazer after Illusion of Gaia. The similarities are apparent but both games stand on their own. I found the story poignant in places and despite the repetition really enjoyed the game up until its conclusion. A great game that really makes me miss its developer that much more.

Star Wars NES

I like a lot of aspects to this game but they botched it in the execution. Its also hard as balls like Battletoads which also kills it.

Highly underrated but a great game nonetheless. It will remind you of Life Force so much but I do think it stands on its own. This is a truly great game that deserves more notoriety.

A good port but lacking in content. The game could have used a few more suspects to fatten it up.
