Re: How Do YOU Capture Retro Game Footage?

I use... the E word.

But I mostly take screenshots and not video. Living in Japan I don't have access to my old consoles, buried somewhere in a box in my parents' attic in the US, and I definitely don't have the space (or money, or technical know-how) for any TV recording equipment.
I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

I was just wondering if Elgato is still the go to card today ( Late 2016 ) ? I have used OBS and Emulators but I was also wondering if there are more benefits using capture cards...

I have a VidBox composite and S-Video capture device that I use with the software it came with. Not the best, but it works well enough.

Do yourself a favor and use emulation for the hand helds systems whenever possible. It is easier by far and yields better video quality. I recently used Kega Fusion for Game Gear capture with reasonable results
