Nice. I own a couple of these, but admittedly they're the worst of the WWF games. Since I was never into wrestling, all of this stuff remains in a weird quasi-state where I recognize some of the people from various side projects or ad campaigns and some of the moves from various places, but I have no idea what I'm doing. For folks trying to get into wrestling games with little knowledge of them, which would you recommend?

Saturday Night Slam Masters for sure, you don't need to know anything, it's just good old fashioned arcade style wrestling

This. It's a classic Capcom fighter meets wrestling game. Good stuff.

I'll stick to this thread for this because I don't want to start a thread just to crap on a game, but...

I was pretty disappointed with Ori and the Blind Forest. Incredible visuals but the platforming is ordinary, I felt like I'd played a hundred games exactly like it. The puzzles also didn't do anything for me. Seems like a big missed opportunity. Any of you guys played it?

Haven't played it, but I have heard mixed feelings about the game from many - and anytime I do hear people praise it, it seems like the first thing that gets praise is the art direction.

Kinda makes me think of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, a game which I jizzed over in the beginning, but after a few months looking back, I realize I was bedazzled by the visuals and music, while the game itself has serious problems, especially in the all important area of replay value.

Wow, I had exactly the opposite experience with Super Earth Defense Force and Phalanx. Super EDF was the first SHMUP I ever managed to beat on the SNES, but I have yet to get through Phalanx. I think a lot of it has to do with the amount of hazards in the levels. Super EDF doesn't throw too many walls in your way, while Phalanx throws tons at variable speeds. Heck, I found Super EDF easier than Axelay too.

Anyway, my suggestion for Super EDF is to stick with Homing for most of the game. There are uses for the other weapons, but the heavy damage dealers like Grenade and Photon do not come into their own until you've leveled up a fair bit. Once you do that, they absolutely slaughter enemies. Also while using homing, I tend to keep my little buddies around me as a shield to help prevent some enemy hits, but I tell them to lock on when I move to the big damage stuff, because they will then swiftly annihilate whatever gets thrown at me. It was the only way I managed to defeat the final boss and his seeking brain projectiles.

Maybe that's why I found Super EDF a little more difficult - I shopped around with the weapons a bit when I probably should've stuck with Homing.

I thought Axelay was pretty dang easy personally... maybe that's just me? That, Phalanx and Gradius III (after much frustration) are the only SNES shmups I've beaten.
