 Wow! This an easy mod, ingenious and timely considering the popularity of the spinner toy. All these years I have used the encoder sensor of a ball mouse with a custom encoder wheel for a spinner controller. You came up with such a novel approach slapping the fidget spinner under a laser mouse. I see you play Asteroids "Omega Race" style like I do with my spinner setup.

This opens up for a very easy mod possibility mounting a sensor mouse to fidget spinner mounted inside a custom Controller Panel. Simple jumper wires from the mouse buttons PCB to arcade buttons. Instead of a fidget spinner, a sliding glass door roller bearing wheel could be used with the laser mouse eye. Flush the grease out with WD40 and add your custom weighted knob for a rapid spin. The advantage of a sensor mouse vs the ball mouse sensor encoder wheel is the ease of installation without needing as precise alignment.

 Expendable "Omega Race" Spinner control for horizontal or vertical
Taken a step further by adding a couple of screw positions in the control panel. The spinner could be set for traditional sideways control for games such as TacScan or Tempest and even bottom SHMUPS such as Galaga or Raiden. Quick swap the control wheel to secondary location (swivel plate) to control vertical movement of the mouse sensor for all the sideways SHMUPS such as Gradius and RType. The analog action of the spinner allows much more quick precise instant start stop control vs digital buttons. Aha!

Wrote up a Spinner Mod Guide using a ball mouse PCB. Same principle on the build. Instead of the encoder wheel, swap to a round weighted steel plate electrical box cover and mod in conjunction with the laser sensor PCB.

Missile Command on the Atari systems, Dreamcast, and Playstation is the featured game on this episode. I also show off some Colecovision Centipede, Atari 800XL Millipede, and PS1 Tempest for your viewing pleasure.

THANKYOU!!

I own a Dreamcast Madcatz Panther Trakball Fightstick for years and did not know going into the settings for Missile Command to enable the secondary "analog" stick of the Trakball. Also have the PC version of the Panther XL.

Give Tempest X a try with that Nyco Trakball on the PlayStation.

Okay- I changed the subject title- That was easy! Hopefully more people can get a benefit from this now. Glad you got the chance to see the tutorial. I read through your spinner mod late last year - nice work :) I had been planning on doing a tutorial video on a laser mouse spinner mod with a bearing that I had ordered from Amazon back in March or April, but I really was putting it off because I had to add a weight to it as well as a knob and was kinda clueless about where I would find these metal pieces that would fit right with it.

The bottle cap, FunTak, and Fidget Spinner made it all so easy. It actually surprised me that the design worked so well.

Glad you get to experience 3 base Missile Command with the Panther DC. It's a really nice piece of hardware, isn't it?!

Get N64 gamepad workin on Gamecube w/ adapters &play StarWar

Post by ave1 »

Here's my latest presentation for a new discovery that I've figured out: You can now use adapters to get your N64 controller working (even with a tilt motion adapter) on your Nintendo Gamecube. When playing Star Wars the Arcade Game this way you'll get to enjoy arcade flight yoke controls which can make for a very fun time.

In the video I also show some flight yoke ideas for the Atari 2600 and 5200, as well. Enjoy!

Today I have a presentation that shows you how to get your Playstation 4 controllers working on your Gamecube. The adapters that were used were the Brook Super Converter (PS4 to PS2 controllers wireless controller adapter) and a PS2 to Gamecube controller adapter.

If you want to take this a step further for playing Gamecube flight games with the cordless Dual Shock 4's Sixaxis motion controls, you can invest in a Cronus Max Plus controller adapter with bluetooth receiver as well as an accessory named the Appfinity Appdrive. It requires a PC and some software, but once you've set things up right, you can enjoy flight yoke controls which I've explained in the video. I've included footage of the following games being played: Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (arcade), Kirby AirRide, FZero GX, Chaos Field, and Top Gun.
