One suggestion, remove some of the foam/cardboard around the jaw of the mouth of the puppet. That should let you open his mouth in a more "realistic" fashion. Great idea and execution.

A friend of mine worked for the Henson Company for a while and told me the same thing about my Muppet styled puppets. Which is why I swapped to found object puppets - think Tom Servo and Crow from MST3k. However found objects often scare children and can be impossible to replace.

That makes sense. I'd like to build a puppet of my own, but I don't think I have the necessary crafting skills.
