I'm so jealous of that. It's really rare to see anykind of big box PC games around here let alone a haul that includes so many awesome titles. It even included one of my favorite games of all time (Might And Magic VI)

At this point my M&M collection is pretty solid, so Kinsey took most of those to start hers. Pretty cool to be able to share the love like that :)

Nice! Nintendo really should have made an HDMI cable along with the Component cable adapter. The 1st generation Gamecube port already a digital out; an HDMI adapter factory produced should have been cheaper then the Nintendo Component analog conversion cable. I suppose because of the era, HDMI were not common yet on TVs.

I can see why the GC VIDEO HDMI adapter price is a bit steep since these are made by hand. The digital audio included a very good move and one can still use the analog output for HD CRTs. No lag thru my component cables which converts the Gamecube digital to analog, so the HDMI direct digital should definitely not have any slowdown of the video feed.

Oh and for anyone that has SVideo input and still saving up for a 480p option, try an inexpensive Gamecube SVideo cable. Not near as good as the HDMI/Component, but the chroma luma separation definitely an improvement over composite.

I have to rub in that Gamecube Component cables sold at Gamestop reached bottom price of only $4.99, managed to snag two of them.

This is pretty neat as a plug and play product for those who can't mod. But FYI to anyone interested, there are a number of other HDMI GCN solutions out there right now. I haven't looked into it, but I'm willing to bet they're all based off the same thing. Just different implementations of it. Lots of stuff on OSH Park and Git Hub for the DIYers. I think their are some prebuilt products available too, but they would have to be installed and aren't plug n play like the one MJ has.

Shame, I was looking forward to one of those.

The thing is the warnings about that HDMI connector were posted well in advance of MJR's vid. I'm guessing he was totally unaware of them.

UPDATE: my GameCube got bumped at a party while powered on and the HDMI adapter KILLED it. Warning/Update vid coming next week!

@ Thierry Henry - Thanks for heads up.

@ Metal Jesus -Sorry to read about that. Maybe static electricity when the adapter (electronic parts inside) lost a couple pin connections in the bump? The Commodore 64 and Dreamcast controller ports in rare instances would short out when a cord plugged while powered on.

I wonder if the official Gamecube component cable (has chip) ever had this issue, though I would not even want to test that. The HDMI adapter appears less stable hanging off the digital port; the connector does not look like a snug fit compared to the Nintendo component connector. The HDMI cable output to one side vs the component cable straight in compact chip plug maybe also increases risk of movement? Perhaps a revision with the box having a short cable connector?
