Neat video describing such an obscure "console". Interesting that the Mega LDs were region locked. Of note, Laser Players do NOT have a region lock for regular video discs which allows playing Japanese pressings on a U.S player. No Macro Vision either in cases one wanted to record the video to tape back in the day.
LASER DISC GUIDE - http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=232140#p232140Concerning the developer Computer Interface module, there were industrial model standalone Laser Players that had a PC interface hookup. It was used to control the video in Arcade cabinets and with various training discs; I have the
In&Out Burger Employee Laser Disc. Also have the
Palcom Astron Belt Disc that worked with a different player with an MSX interface. Lastly I own the original Arcade
Dragons Lair Laser Disc with its original Arcade Schematics Booklet. All can be watched on my regular Laser Players though the interactivity is limited to the Jog Shuttle Dial. Imagine if that Computer Interface Module was released, perhaps the Dragons Lair game?
@ Metal Jesus - How about an "Atari Star Raiders" themed game on a Palcom Laser disc called
STAR FIGHTERS. Galactic Chart and a very familiar forward track interface, I would love to play that!
