Any tips for Doom 2 or Final Doom. Final Doom kind of scares me at the moment sounds like in terms of difficulty it might be the hardest game in the series.

Best way to deal with Archviles is the BFG 9000. Also, there's some levels where the game intentionally sets up situations where you want to use monster infighting to make it through. And you WILL run into Cyberdemons and Spider Masterminds in random levels as an obstacle (that you may or may not have to defeat; sometimes you can just ninja past). Finally, the double barreled shotgun is awesome.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about Final Doom. It's basically two licensed PWADs by a 3rd party team. It's hard, but not as good as the actual games. The Plutonia Experiment is the better of the two. I'd actually suggest saving those for later and moving on to other games.

I might give Final Doom a go after Doom II and see if I'm up for it or not. Feel like my best shot at beating it is just jumping right into it after two. If I'm feeling kind of burned out I might just skip to Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil though.

Luckily DOS box isn't throwing a hissy fit like it did with Ultimate Doom. So I'll be able to play it on PC. However I'm now so used to the controller that the mouse is killing me :P. I think I could handle the mouse if it were restricted to looking left and right. However being able to move forward and back with the mouse is really throwing me off. Might try something like JoyToKey so I can use my 360 controller.

Yeah level one of Episode 4 really beat the concept of killing everything out of me . At least one good thing that came out of that episode is I now know how to sprint like a champ.

http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Controls references the Novert program as something people use.

I'll check it out when I get there. Using a Keyboard and Mouse would definitely have a ton of upsides over the controller especially since it would eliminate having to scroll through all my weapons every time I need one and I'm sure the mouse is alot more accurate :P.

Dude. ZDoom is your friend on PC.

Man, we really oughta organize some co-op or DM old school Doomage sometime on here. I guess Zandronum is the preferred method now?
