Scanning larger than A4?

I was wondering how do you go about scanning a magazine whose page size is larger than A4?

Do it in pieces and than put it together in Photoshop.
Would be pretty time consuming though...

Nothing in particular, alot of UK mags are larger than A4.

A while ago I looked at some image stitching software, you scan 2 or more images and it tries to overlay the common area. Pretty time consuming process. I tried making a sample (took a few goes), you can see the blurred part is where it has been joined:

I remember downloading a magazine scan that was larger than A4 but as far as I could tell the pages were scanned in 1 pass.
