Storing magazines

Hi all,

I've got a near complete set of one magazine (N64 Magazine) and was wondering whether to store the magazines in binders, or whether to remove the review pages from each and laminate in some way, so that I could store every review in one binder. Just wanted to know if anybody does anything different with their magazines, and any useful places to buy such products from?

But was wondering if anybody stores magazines differently, for display purposes.

You can buy magazine-sized bags and boards, just like comic book ones. Online or at any comic shop. That's what I do, and I store them in magazine boxes, just like the comic ones but made for magazines. Acid-free and bought online or at any comic shop just like the bags and boards.

Personally, I'd go for that just because I cringe at the thought of cutting up such a complete collection for a binder.

THIS. When I was a kid I did this even gluing pages back to back to cover the "useless" ads on Car Craft magazines. If I had only known now all the articles I had lost from the rest of the magazine. Even the ads today would have been worth a nostalgic read.

I recently picked up a pristine PSM PS1 era magazine at the Thrift Store. The old multipage EB ads inside was the highlight, seeing all the old games and hardware listed.

I'v also wondered about this. I found a stack of old Nintendo Power magazines at a yard sale (sadly with all the posters removed! But still it's something from my childhood so I got them.) and have just ordered them as best I could (there are large gaps in the collection) and stuck them in a bookshelf next to my small collection of Sega Gen games. They are at the bottom of the bookshelf because of the weight issue, but I can't see them where they are now unless I sit on the floor and pull them out.

I have seen people frame special edition magazines...someone even framed the 50th edition of NP (the zelda one). I always thought that might be a good idea, as long as the magazine wasn't damaged (like gluing it to the back of the frame). But you could only do that with a few, the rest would still be in the book shelf.

I thought that it might be a good idea to try and invest in a magazine rack, like from a book store or comic store. But that would take up way to much space in my room, space I could use to store games! Then I remembered those small standing rotating display racks. One of those could fit in a corner and you could change the magazines out once and a while to keep it fresh.

Take a note from comic collectors: bag and board them. That stuff is built to preserve the life of printed paper.

This. I recently obtained a somewhat large chunk of Nintendo Power mags and decided to shell out a very reasonable amount of money to board and bag em. Most comic book stores will carry the boards and bags for both magazines and comic books so just look around. I also board and bag smaller artbooks/promo posters/etc. so they're certainly multi-purpose.
