Necessary cables for Sony PVM

Just picked up a Sony PVM-1354Q on a whim because it was a good price. It came with no cables. I'm wondering what I'll need to start using this thing.

this is the back of it: http://www.broadcastbaron.com/picsandpd ... 13067c.jpg

I don't have many vintage consoles but I'm interested in trying it out with my PSOne, PS2, N64 (which I know doesn't support RGB w/o modification), Xbox Original, and maybe GameCube/Wii. What adapter will I need to connect these consoles? Will each console require a different adapter or is there one I can buy that will handle all/most? I'm also hoping to get the best possible quality out of each.

Another thing I'd like to try out is connecting my PC (via a VGA or HDMI adapter?) to the PVM, perhaps for emulator use. What would that process be like?

And for the power cable is there any specific wattage or w/e to look for?

I imagine I'll need some RCA-BNC Connectors and a SCART adapter but I'm unsure on the specifics and exactly what I need for what. I'm not good at this stuff.

Any help is appreciated.

SCART to BNC breakout adapter and all the SCART cables you could ever want.

They usually have a coupon code for like 5-10% off on their facebook if you look around a little.

Get this: http://www.amazon.com/GW-Security-Femal ... ca+adapter

That way you could also use composite and component cables you might have lying around, or make your own RGB cables if you choose.

And to connect to PC would this do the trick?: http://www.amazon.com/CableWholesale-1- ... B0064PCP08

How/where exactly would I connect the SCART cable?

A VGA monitor is not the same, you would have to convert the sync signal first.

You would use an RGB SCART cable with the console's output, then a SCART to BNC breakout cable, then BNC input on the PVM.

To elaborate on this, VGA has a 31Khz refresh rate. Old arcade monitors and PVMs typcially have a 15Khz refresh rate. VGA is a type of RGB signal but it is not the signal that your PVM is expecting. If you want to hook a PC up to your PVM, your best bet would be this video card. https://www.ultimarc.com/avgainf.html

Alright, let's step back a bit, I went too general on first suggestion sorry.

First of all, http://www.retrorgb.com is, in my opinion, an invaluable resource for all things video quality related. I've learned a *TON* by reading it.

That being said:

PS/PS2: PS2 natively displays via Component/YPbPr which technically is not the same thing as RGB despite the cables usually being Red, Green, and Blue. But IIRC most PVMs will accept YPbPr just fine. You can also make a PS2 display RGB if you want, but you typically don't want to because some PS2 games can display in 480p, and RGB can only display up to 480i (short version: YPbPr can display higher quality for certain games). If you want convenience, you can just play your PS1 games on the PS2. If for some reason you don't want to do that (chipped PS1 or what have you), you'll need an SCART adapter for the PS1 and the SCART to BNC adapter from Retro Gaming Cables.

N64: You'll need to have it modded for RGB and then you use an SCART plug (same as you would use on an SNES if you have one) and the SCART to BNC adapter

GC/Wii: Again, unless you have a pressing need to use your actual GC, strongly recommend you use a Wii for your GCN games. Reason being, NTSC GCN's don't output RGB, only YPbPr and the cables for it are extremely expensive, usually well over $200, so you would be stuck at S-Video with a GCN unless you want to lay down beaucoup bucks. A Wii can display the same or better graphics with standard price cables. Wii will display via YPbPr which again I'm pretty sure your PVM will take just fine (I don't have one myself so I occasionally forget a few of their nuances)

So basically... for those 5 systems the cables you will need are at a minimum:

N64 SCART cable (will also work on SNES if you're so inclined)
SCART to BNC breakout adapter
Wii YPbPr/Component cables
PS2 YPbPr/Component cables (if they're marketed as PS3 component cables, that's fine)
Some sort of RCA to BNC adapter, self-made if you wish, unless you want to change the ends on your component cables which is also acceptable.

Hope that helps a little bit more.
