So I'm likely moving this coming summer. A decision to be made... invest in OSSC... or move the 2 CRTs. This may be the straw the gets me to jump... again...

Don't get rid of the CRTs! You'll regret it!

I was going to say, "at least keep 2 good CRT's", but I see that's exactly what you have anyway.

So yeah, keep them if you can, but I understand that life complicates that.
It's why I try to be set for any contingency (be it ossc/retrotink/etc or CRT).

Original/intended options are often best.

Where to? In-state or out? Keep me in mind if you move on from one of the monitors if it's VGA (says the CRT hoarder with a PVM to sell).

Just across my side of town Joe. Within 10 miles or so.

I think I want an OSSC & I'm dreading moving the 27" CRT TV.... so my brain is combining those 2 initiatives

Yeah. I dumped my WEGA HD CRT 27" because seriously, who wants to deal with that backache?

And I still need to make room...

Just FYI, Marqs (OSSC creator) received the OSSC Pro prototypes last month. It might see a release in the first half of 2021. Price isn't known yet but it might be worth waiting for more information.

So in order to play light gun games again, I decided to buy a CRT. Managed to find nothing good on Craigslist, but happened upon a 27" Trinitron WEGA on ebay from NJ. The guy drove it in today, and it is a beaut. Pretty much the same one I had several years ago, so I'm happy to have it (one just like it) again. Threw in Gradius III via s-video and the picture just looks crystal clear.

But no sooner did I pay for the TV did I luck into a 17" Toshiba 20AF43. The thing was sitting outside my apartment building where other tenants throw away large trash items. The remote was taped to it and everything. The thing looks in great condition, albeit with a slight odor. The screen though is in good shape.

I guess I'm happy to have two now CRTs now―one for the bedroom?―both with component and s-video, though the future of this 55" rear projector TV is now in doubt.

If it’s “just” an odor, put it out in the sun for a couple of hours. Helped kill the smoke smell out of a couple of my things.

I'm not sure I should do that in the freezing cold, but it'll warm up soon, so I should get to it then.

Thankfully, it's not overpowering, and I can't smell it unless I'm close up to it.
