While the lack of a Dreamcast is concerning & no laser disc player is questionable....

I heard a click when you turned the lights off and then back on. I'm not totally sure what type of light switch you got, so I'm making assumptions...

I highly recommend getting one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Lutron-MIR-600THW ... 414&sr=8-8

That'll give you full dim control as well as being able to turn the lights on/off from the wall switch or remote. The remote even has a favorite settings for the dim level. No special wiring or anything, it just directly replaces the wall switch. I got one of those when I redid my bedroom, and it's been my favorite thing that I did with that room. Looks like your switch is by the door so you wouldn't have a direct line of sight from the couches. I don't have a line of sight where my switch is located in my bedroom and the remote still works fine.
