SNES Scart to Projector input question

Post by dkscism »

Hi all, new to the forum. I just bought a projector that I hope to use with my SNES. I'm using SCART for video signal. Here is the projector i bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A9S ... _pC_nS_ttl

I know there are some SCART to HDMI boxes that have good reviews by old school gamers. Would my best option be to use one of these and the HDMI input on the projector? Or does the projector have another input that would be better to use with SCART?
Also I have another system that is not SCART compatible. I plan on using S-video for it. Would the picture be better if I just hooked it directly to the S-video input on the projector, or would an S-Video to HDMI box produce better quality?
Thanks guys and gals. I also want to mention that I can't justify spending the money on a high quality upscaler (i.e. XRGB).

I would just hook both up via S-Video, The projector itself is pretty low quality, you will hardly notice the difference. You don't tend to on CRT's, let alone projectors.

Bringing up my old thread because i ended up buying a higher quality projector. I returned the viewsonic and picked up a BenQ w1070. This is a much higher quality projector (1080p). So I would like to ask the same questions but with this higher quality projector in mind.

emwearz's advice still rings true. The SCART or Svideo to HDMI will not give you an advantage over just doing Svideo straight to it. Infact it could give you a worse experience depending on how the encoder works. The Benq you bought also does component, so if I am not mistaken a SCART to YUV adapter should work and be cheaper than a SCART to HDMI.

You can get either for about the same price.

http://www.amazon.com/SPECIALTY-AV-SCAR ... 078&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Panlong-PL-SH2H-C ... 111&sr=1-2

Me personally, I'd stick with S-Video. My second choice would be the above linked SCART to YPbPr adapter, but this usually doesn't give you a noticeable difference.

Also, just throwing it out there, the XRGB Framemeister: http://www.amazon.com/DP3913515-Frameme ... 289&sr=1-2

But since we're talking about a projector, I have no idea if it's worth it.
